How much run into can a Dell Dimension 3000 feel?

I've already upgraded to a 256MB PCI ATI graphics graphics card, and plan on upgrading to a DVD-Rom/Burner, and considered necessary to put the most ram possible, I read 2GB, does this tight-fisted per slot or total?

It can handle two memory chips beside a maximum of 1 gig per chip totalling 2 gigs.



It will not pinch a single 2 gig chip.
