How to hook up an external video source to my compuer?

Hello adjectives! I'm having a short time difficulty with my hot HP computer. On the front panel of my computer there are several video inputs (S-video, and composite video [yellow, red, white cables]). I would resembling to hook up an external video source - like my ps2 for instance. Unfortunately, when i hook up adjectives the appropriate cables nought happens. Am i forgetting something, do i stipulation another application? I am running windows vista premium, so shouldn't window media middle be sufficient? Please assist! I'm having guests over within a couple of days and would like to use my comp as a tv eyeshade! Thanks.
